Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical experiences include discovering an old piano that was hidden away within her attic, then becoming fascinated with the sounds it produced. Her parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to explore music and not just as a career or hobby but for growth. Her first step was to compose the songs she wrote herself. Her inspirations include famous authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her attraction to Bjork's style. After her mom told her that her songs can aid in her gaining fame, but also make other people realize their significance to the world and appreciate the potential of their music, she made the decision to start performing in public. She started playing piano when she was just six and started writing songs before she reached nine. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora wasn't a dream. She claims that she enjoys composing songs. She says that music is her favorite way to feel anything.
